We commit 1% of the cost of production to go directly to the workforce, supporting further quality of life advancements.
Verified production facilities & practices
Our supplier is rigorously inspected to ensure safe conditions. We’ve visited the production facilities that make our materials and assemble all of our bags, to verify for ourselves.
Reducing our impact on the environment
Plastic-free packaging
We’re deeply committed to keeping our oceans healthy, so we’ve opted to ship our products in 100% plastic-free packaging. In fact, we feel so strongly about it, we even created a separate organization, SeaHive, dedicated to fighting environmentally harmful plastic packaging. Through SeaHive we fight plastic pollution before it enters our oceans by helping other companies eliminate plastic packaging while raising awareness with consumers.

Responsible Fulfillment
We choose to ship our products from our factories overseas to our US-based shipping facility by ocean freight instead of air. According to MIT, long-haul air freight generates 47 times as much greenhouse gas emissions as ocean freight, per ton-mile.

Using as many responsible materials & processes as possible
We only use modern, durable, technical materials that are animal-friendly and have the lowest possible environmental impact. We work to improve our supply chain and products by constantly looking for lower impact replacements for materials and processes.

Keeping products out of landfills
Because sustainable products don’t exist, we make versatile products that serve many needs and are built to withstand a lifetime of use, so you can buy once, buy right, and use it for life. If your needs do change, or something unexpected happens, we offer both repair and resale which keeps thousands of products in use and out of the landfills.

2017
Pakt launched with plastic-free packaging.
Pakt founder Malcolm Fontier simultaneously launches SeaHive, an organization dedicated to reducing the use of environmentally harmful packaging in consumer products and supply chains. Pakt and Seahive developed their own plastic-free and low impact packaging and share everything they learn with other brands interested in doing the same.
2018
We picked responsible production partners.
We evaluated multiple factories to find one which meets their high demands for a high quality of living and fair wages for employees.
2019
Pakt joins 1% for the Planet.
2020
Switches to all recycled materials in production.
We started using recycled materials with the launch of the Travel Backpack.
2021
We became Climate Neutral Certified.
We made changes that reduced our carbon footprint by 644 tonnes of CO2, changed the materials in bags to improve our impact and footprint, and invested in offsetting our carbon footprint.
2021
We launched our first full collection featuring recycled materials, the Anywhere collection.
We ambitiously moved from creating one bag of recycled material, to creating all future bags out of recycled materials — and launched a full line of gear.
2023
We changed gears, leaving 1% For The Planet & Climate Neutral.
We re-evaluated how to reduce our environmental impact the most,we left 1% For The Planet and Climate Neutral to focus on repairing goods, and opening a peer-to-peer marketplace for used goods to keep them in circulation longer.
2023
We launched the rePakt marketplace.
The rePakt marketplace launched in June 2023, and has found homes for over 800 bags and diverted 3,686lbs from landfills.
2023
We launched our repair program.
Our repair program launches in June 2024. With highly durable bags, we find few repairs are needed, mostly from accidents or extreme situations. We average 15 repairs a month with a goal to scale this program globally.
2024
First hand tours of production and material facilities.
We visited Vietnam and South Korea to verify safe and humane conditions for our materials and production facilities.
