MODE Backpack 22L

Probably the best bag I’ve ever bought, as someone that’s extremely picky about the smallest things.

I work full time, and I’m a graduate student, so I’m usually carrying two laptops, notebooks, and textbooks around with me. This backpack gives me plenty of room for everything I carry, and it’s more comfortable than other backpacks I’ve used. Worthwhile purchase.

The search is over, this is my dream backpack. Pakt nailed it! Every other one I’ve tried falls flat in some way - material, color, organization, layout, aesthetic, comfort, weight, size. They are either too minimalist and don’t carry the load well, or too chunky to feel professional. The Mode 22 is a perfect balance. Just get this bag, you won’t regret it.

The layout is so well designed. A month in and I’m still finding ways to use all the smart details they tucked in, like the lash loops on the outside that are almost invisible. I clip my keys or AirPods to them, I run shock cord through them to stuff a jacket into, clip on a small accessory bag, the uses are endless. I’m amazed by how much the backpack carries while still being easy to access and comfortable. Thank you for giving us ways to customize (like the daisy chains inside, 🤌), a dedicated AirTag pocket, and a luggage pass through. Somehow you managed to pack every single feature into a 22 L format.

Can we talk about the zippers for a minute? They are too good to be true - I cannot get over how smooth they are. The combo of these zippers plus the structure of this material means I can get in and out of the bag with one hand, which sounds minor but I guarantee you, it is not. IYKYK. I always reverted back to tote bags because I needed quick, easy access that I haven’t found with literally any other backpack. I’m a mom who works as consultant so I regularly have to haul two giant laptops and an iPad (with this bag they all get a separate built-in divided compartment!) plus all the accompanying chargers and peripherals, plus layers, snacks, water bottle, small crossbody for running errands after work… A dealbreaker for me is being able to get in and out of my bag with one hand while it’s sitting in the passenger seat and I’m telling you - they thought of it all. And the side grab handle! I’m surprised at how often I find myself reaching for it it to move the bag around at home and in my car.

Weight distribution is spot-on, it sits close to the body without feeling bulky. Would be super easy to take on public transportation. I haven’t used it on a plane yet, but I bought it with air travel in mind in addition to daily carry and I can’t wait to try it out. The back panel is the perfect length for my short torso to carry comfortably without it sitting too low on my hips. A+ for factoring in a sternum strap! It makes all the difference when I have to wear my backpack for long stretches, and when it’s bike to work season again I won’t have to change to a different bag.

The tonal colors are clean and intentional, and give just the right minimalist aesthetic. I got the Sumac orange for personality without being unprofessional - I can take it anywhere and still look put-together. The material is durable and structured in all the right ways. Lint and pet hair don’t stick and it wipes clean when needed.

Pakt - pls pls pls make a belt bag or crossbody with the same thoughtful details to pair with this backpack. I’ll be the first in line.
