The journey, perfected.

At Pakt, we don’t just design gear; we use it, we test it, and we listen to the travelers who rely on it. Recently, feedback from our community highlighted that the shoulder straps on the new Pakt One Travel Backpack could experience slippage under heavy loads while on the move.

For most brands, "good enough" is the standard. But we aren’t most brands.

We believe in raising the bar. So, instead of ignoring it, we are upgrading everyone. We have manufactured a new set of straps to ensure your pack performs flawlessly, no matter how heavy you pack.

Here is everything you need to know about the upgrade.

Phase 1: The Quick Fix (Anyone Still Waiting For Their Kit)

Traveling before your new straps arrive? If you are currently on the road or planning a trip before late January, we have a simple, field-tested hack that significantly reduces slippage.

The Elastic Band Trick Simply adding a small hair tie or rubber band just below the hardware acts as a brake for the webbing. It’s low-tech, but it works wonders.

Phase 2: The Upgrade (Now)

We are sending a free set of high-grip straps to every customer who purchased the Pakt One Travel Backpack with the original straps.

Once your upgrade kit arrives, swapping them out takes less than two minutes.

  1. Detach the current strap: Cut off the folded end of the strap.

  2. Unclip the metal hook: This is the D-Ring that attaches the strap to the main body of the bag.

  3. Pull the strap out of the ladder lock: The ladder lock is the other piece of hardware when the strap has been woven through the bars.

  4. Attach the new, thicker anti-slip strap: This is the D-Ring piece of hardware that clips onto the main body of the bag.

  5. Slide the new strap into the ladder lock: Thread the webbing from the bottom through the upper slot.

  6. Secure the base: Insert the strap into the bottom slot from top down and pull it through

  7. Repeat: Do the same for the second strap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to sign up for the new straps?

No. If you purchased the new Pakt One Travel Backpack, we have your details and have automatically sent your upgrade kits. If you did not receive the upgrade kit in early February, please contact our support team.

Will new orders come with the old or new straps? If you order today, your bag will ship with the current straps and upgrade kit. You will have to replace the lower part of the strap once you receive the order.

Is my bag safe to use right now?

Absolutely. The bag is fully structural and safe to carry. The issue is strictly related to the webbing slipping through the adjuster while moving, not a failure of the bag’s integrity.

I haven't experienced any slipping. Do I still need to swap them?

That is up to you. Many travelers with lighter loads haven't had any issues. However, we recommend swapping them out to ensure you have the most capable and versatile setup for future trips.
