Factory Tour: Pakt’s Fabric Mill
Conscious of the details and mindful of the planet, Pakt bags are designed in Bozeman, Montana, and proudly built using premium recycled materials milled in Daegu, South Korea.
Our perspective on responsibility is intersectional. From the initial concept to plastic-free packaging, we carefully consider the impact of our process. This is, well, woven into the fabric of the Pakt brand.

When sourcing fabrics for Pakt bags, there are many factors to consider before placing an order. We ensure our supply chain partners are PFAS-free, avoiding forever chemicals in our products. Our design team searches for fabrics not only made from recycled materials but also fabrics that are easy to recycle at the end of use.

After all of our responsibility standards are met, it’s time to meet the suppliers in person. For most of our materials and suppliers, we like to see their factory with our own eyes and meet the management in person to make sure the factory, working conditions, and environmental protections are as they have been described. The best way to do that is to load up our Travel Backpacks to visit the mills in the Daegu area of South Korea.
“Daegu, Korea is the epicenter of bag fabric manufacturing. Most of the world’s best, most technical fabrics are all made in this one city.
I’ve been working with the fabric suppliers Leejo and Daehyun for close to 15 years, but always at tradeshows or factories. This was my first time visiting them at their home and getting a tour of their fabric mills to see how it’s all made in person.”

The design team works with the mill to develop and test appropriate materials for a year or more before they’re cut and sewn into a Pakt bag.

The exterior fabrics and linings of our bags are made from recycled plastics, giving them a second life outside the landfill. Pakt bags use recycled nylon, which has the benefit of being recycled multiple times while other options like rPET are downcycled and used again in other products. This design process focuses on the entire lifecycle of the product, considering our impact at every step.
Built to last, every Pakt bag comes with a lifetime warranty. Keeping quality products in use and out of landfills is an easy way we can all be more environmentally conscious. To find more details on caring for or repairing your Pakt bag, check out our cleaning and care tips here.
