Drinks To Go: The Watermelon Margarita

Welcome to Drinks To Go, a series on how to make amazing, highly portable cocktails for your late summer and fall getaways. We’ve partnered up with some of our favorite brands, Elevated Craft and Hella Cocktail Co., to bring you recipes with minimal steps and ingredients that are easy to pack.

Today we’re sharing a fresh, simple drink that’s best enjoyed poolside at your Palm Springs AirBnb– the Watermelon Margarita! This cocktail is also great for groups, as it’s easy to batch a bunch ahead of time, seal in your Elevated Craft Cocktail Shaker (a big mason jar could work well here too), and shake & serve at the beach.

Packing list

Homemade or store bought watermelon juice (how-to below)

Measure out 1oz of watermelon juice, 1 oz of Margarita Mix, and 1.5 oz of Tequila; and pour into the shaker. Add ice and shake. Pour over ice & garnish with a lime wedge.

Travel Tips

  • You can batch and store up to 4 Margaritas in a larger vessel like the Elevated Craft Shaker- bonus, this shaker seals & will stay cold for up to 24 hours. Note- you’ll want to wait add ice & shake until you get to your Tommy Bahama chair in the sand.
  • Homemade watermelon juice hack: cut about ¼ of a watermelon, blend for 30 seconds, voila! Stain out pulp if you’re into pulp-free.
  • Skip a step- watermelon juice + tequila taste pretty good on it’s own too!
  • Bonus drink: two words for you my friend- Watermelon. Shandy.
